For most of us, this battle with external influences begins in our early childhood development, thus leading us to choose the path of conformity, aligning with the accepted standards set by society. However, a few people persist in resisting and challenging these societal pressures, remaining true to themselves. These individuals tend to achieve greater success in life and their respective careers. Consequentially, they experience heightened happiness, fulfillment, and self-realization, often contributing to transformative breakthroughs in society while pursuing their passions and actualizing their ambitions.
Comparatively, those who tend to conform to societal expectations often find themselves unable to unlock their potential fully, ultimately leading to a mediocre and unfulfilling life.
The fear of being an outsider, a fear that is deeply ingrained in us, often pushes us to conform to societal norms and expectations, causing us to betray our genuine desires and aspirations. For many, the struggle for self-realization continues throughout their entire lives. They may conform to societal norms while secretly yearning for alternative paths to realize their inherent potential. This dilemma can be described as a battle between authenticity and conformity, ultimately determining the extent of one’s self-realization.
People who follow their hearts, souls, and intuition tend to develop much faster than the society around them.
Such individuals are often referred to as geniuses. Geniuses separate themselves from societal norms and typically pioneer actions that others may fear to undertake today but that a majority of people may adopt in the future. Societies enriched with geniuses are likelier to reach new heights and become exceptional.
Despite the clear benefits of choosing the authentic path, many adults opt for the “safe” route of conformity. There are two primary reasons for this:
1. Lack of Awareness. People often underestimate the limited personal growth that comes with conforming to societal norms and expectations.
2. Inner Strength. Many people lack the inner strength needed to resist the pressures of society.
The good news is that we can embrace our true selves and pursue what we were meant to do at any point in our lives. This involves tapping into our innate genius, nurturing our talents and gifts, and living life to its fullest potential. Doing so can create a happy, fulfilled, and prosperous existence.
